To celebrate International Tourism Day, the Cyprus Deputy Ministry of Tourism partnered with Summercliff to create a captivating video that highlights the island’s rich gastronomy, wine culture, and the ancient Koummandaria wine tradition.
SCOPE
For the Cyprus Deputy Ministry of Tourism’s International Tourism Day campaign, Summercliff was tasked with creating a video that would celebrate the island's rich gastronomy and wine culture, with a special focus on the centuries-old tradition of Koummandaria wine. From concept development to scriptwriting, storyboard creation, production, post-production, and voice-over, Summercliff handled the project from start to finish. The video aimed to promote Cyprus as a must-visit destination by showcasing its cultural and culinary heritage, specifically highlighting how food and wine bring people together. The final piece was featured prominently on the Visit Cyprus official social media channels and YouTube, engaging international audiences.
STRATEGY
Summercliff's strategy was to create an emotional and inspiring narrative that celebrated both the uniqueness of Cyprus and the universal human connection fostered through shared experiences around food and wine. The concept revolved around a poetic script, written in-house, that mirrored the lyrical beauty of the island's landscapes and its 800-year-old Koummandaria wine tradition. By featuring individuals from various ethnicities seated around a communal table in the picturesque cobblestone village of Tohni, the video conveyed a sense of unity, warmth, and the joy of discovery—elements that resonate deeply with travelers. The storytelling was designed to evoke a deep emotional response while subtly promoting Cyprus as a destination where history, culture, and gastronomy come together.
IMPLEMENTATION
Summercliff took a hands-on approach in bringing this vision to life, handling every aspect of production. The poetic script set the tone, and the storyboard mapped out a visual journey that blended intimate moments of connection with sweeping shots of Cyprus's scenic beauty. Filmed in the historic village of Tohni, the production captured the charm and authenticity of the location, with every detail—from the table settings to the backdrop—carefully curated to enhance the storytelling. In post-production, the emotional impact was heightened through the use of cinematic editing, a stirring voice-over, and a score that complemented the natural beauty of the setting. Once finalized, the video was shared widely on Visit Cyprus’s social media platforms and YouTube, effectively reaching and engaging international audiences with its celebration of Cypriot gastronomy and culture.
