Challenge
The Department of Fisheries and Marine Research, under the Ministry of Agriculture, partnered with Summercliff to develop the identity and promotional strategy for ACCOBAMS 2025, an international conference held in Cyprus focusing on dolphin and cetacean conservation in the Mediterranean and Black Seas. The challenge was to create a visual and narrative identity that could communicate scientific credibility on a global level, while emotionally connecting audiences to the protection of dolphins and the marine ecosystems they inhabit, rooted in Cyprus’ maritime heritage.
Objectives
Create a distinctive visual identity for ACCOBAMS 2025 held in Cyprus that reflects dolphin conservation, marine biodiversity, and international cooperation.
Develop a cohesive system of conference materials including logo, posters, digital assets, videos, gifts, and on site visuals.
Position Cyprus as an active and responsible host country, highlighting its connection to the Mediterranean Sea and marine protection efforts.
Strategy
Summercliff’s strategy focused on blending environmental storytelling with symbolic Mediterranean elements. Dolphins were positioned not only as protected species, but as intelligent, social, and emblematic guardians of marine health. By combining scientific purpose with emotional resonance, the branding aimed to inspire responsibility, awareness, and collaboration among delegates, institutions, and the wider public.
Implementation
Logo Design
The ACCOBAMS 2025 logo incorporated key symbolic elements:
The Dolphin: Representing intelligence, harmony, and the core mission of cetacean conservation.
Mediterranean Forms: Fluid lines inspired by waves and sea currents, reflecting movement and life.
Cyprus References: Subtle shapes and color tones inspired by the island’s coastline and maritime identity.
Conference Materials
Summercliff designed posters, banners, conference screens, and digital assets that extended the logo’s visual language. The system maintained clarity and consistency while allowing flexibility across formats and platforms.
Promotional Gifts
Branded items inspired by marine life and sustainability were created to reinforce the conservation message beyond the conference space.
Video Production
A dedicated video was produced to introduce the conference identity and its meaning. Through visual storytelling, the video explained how dolphins symbolize ecosystem balance, intelligence, and the urgent need for coordinated conservation efforts, while connecting these values to Cyprus and the Mediterranean.
